At Denny we know Kids Lunches are a tough one to crack! Trying to give your children something that won’t get swapped, thrown in the bin or taken home untouched isn’t easy. So we’ve decided to help by giving you a few different lunchbox ideas so you can find the right fit for your family to ensure the lunchbox returns home empty, for all the right reasons!

A simple checklist for school lunches is to include a drink, along with protein, dairy, fruit and Veg, and some carbohydrates to give them energy to get through the day. Here we’ve put together a typical kids lunchbox that ticks all the boxes.

  1. A Bottle of WaterAs you know it’s so important to keep hydrated. Kids have a long day of concentrating in the classroom and drinking plenty of water keeps them alert and focused on their school work.
  2. A Piece of FruitTrying to put in a mid-morning snack for the kids little break but want to steer away from those sugary treats? This is the perfect opportunity to put in an apple or a banana that’s easy to transport and eat but is healthy and nutritious. The perfect filler to keep the kids going until lunchtime.
  3. Protein and CarbohydratesA good sandwich makes for the perfect lunch. Easy and quick to make with so many possibilities to keep the kids lunch exciting day after day. You can check out the full list of our sandwich ideas or here is one of the old time favourites that never disappoints. Buy some wholegrain bread or rolls, pop on the kids preferred spread, then fill it up with cheddar cheese and some Denny Ham, topped with some lettuce and tomato. Absolutely delicious! You can also try out this recipe with our Slow Cooked Turkey or Chicken slices to change things up a bit.

That’s lunchtime looked after but check out some after-school snacks for some inspiration when the kids get home!
